i inherited a 1979 L48 automatic T-top, the car does run although its not driven very often. the car was actually not running for a while until i took it to a corvette mechanic who really seemed to know what they were doing. the car is a baby blue. with a faded dark blue oyster interior that is not in the best condition. it has electric package with electric locks and power windows. The worst problem i had was that for some reason it would kill the battery really fast, i went through two brand new batteries! some of the gauges don't work but i not think that is too much of a problem. the car has been a nightmare and has left me in the road a few times, having to tow it back home and figure out what happened. after the third time i finally took it to a corvette shop to get it checked out. after taking it to the corvette mechanic he seemed to get everything going and the car was running nice and healthy. I haven't had the battery problem since and would start up first try. due to my bad experiences with the car i don't trust this car too much, but the mechanic seemed to be really confident that it was a nice healthy corvette and was in good condition for its age. i just can't seem to understand how after my experiences. although it does run i did replace some parts but nothing major. He said i could well sell it for $10,000. which is great since that is exactly what i would want to sell it for. it doesn't have tags due to the fact that it hasn't been taken to get a smog check. but the mechanic had told me the car should pass it no problem. I want to get rid of the car for at least $5,000. how do i sell a car in this condition? ill take any advice as I'm really frustrated with the car
First; edit your post and remove the dollar figures. What the mechanic speculates the car is worth is unimportant. What you would like to sell the car for should remain private.
would people be really interested in the car in this condition? without smog and with that history? i have the paperwork on what was replaced in the car from the mechanic should I post the car for 10,000 without the smog?

Tough call! It has no desirable options including paint scheme but $5k is reasonable as a starting point. Parties interested will probably beat you up over the $5k.
As Mike suggests...post in the for sale forum and see what happens. It is apparent is has been modified and prospective buyers will ask if you have the original tail lights...this that and the and other. So make it clear "for sale" as is.
Judging from the blue plate it has spent its whole life in California. As long as it didn't live on the coast it is probably rust free, a big plus to those of us in the rust belt. Another plus to an out of state sale would be no smog ***** to deal with. Good luck with your sale. Mike(former Californian)
