Rajin, you gone and done it now! Ls3, tanks inc, sharkbite, coilover fronts, wilwood ...it's gonna be awesome!

Btw... I would clean that frame by hand, etch and epoxy prime, then paint with this...http://shop.masterseriesct.com/produ...3&categoryId=1

It's impossible to get all the sand out of the inside of the frame, there will be raw places left inside the frame, and powdercoat isn't as solvent resistant as the ag111. IMHO

Thanks Slofut.. I've been talking to a local guy who does a lot of frame restorations. He does not use sand but plastic beads?? and walnut on glass bodies. Going to look at a corvette chassis he just did. Going to look at the product he uses also. Looked at powder coating but like you said, Not impervious to chemicals. Also see where it can fade and turn gray over time. Other problem is if the coat is torn, moisture will accumulate and bubble the powder coat. This was supposed to be the easy part... LOL

Heading to the frame shop in the morning. Just wanted to add that removing A-arm bushings bite the big one... Last set I removed was from a 1967 Chevelle back in 2005. I think I cut those out with a torch. Now I remember why I put the chassis last.

Rear end back together. I ended up sandblasting and gun bluing the bolts. Hope they hold up. Goes back together nicely when nice and clean.

Front end about back together. Hopefully have the center link, tie rods and steering box back in tomorrow. Need to order brake lines and fuel lines. Debating if the SS ones are worth the additional cost. I will probably be long gone before they will need to be replaced next time.

Nice job.
I'll just add that in my reading of threads affiliated with Brake Lines, the standard metal are at times preferred to SS because of being easier to work with and I think seating them is easier. From this, I've decided that would be the direction I'm headed on my rebuild. The original set has lasted 47yrs, so it works for me.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks and agreed. The SS are pricey, and I think overkill. The car sat for a while and the gas tank was full of pin holes and rotting out. I was getting trash in the filter from the fuel line (I replaced the tank), but it cleared itself after a few months. Like you said, the standard lasted 46 years easily. Brake lines looked fine also. The chassis on this car was solid with original factory paint in some areas, so I assume a northern car would be a different story.

Looks like it'll be ready for "Cruisin the Coast"!!!

It turning out great-

I just replaced the brake lines in my 73 (original) with steel and they showed no signs of rust. Went on with no issues.

On my 71 I had some SS ones-they were a pain to get seated- as any slight difference- making them flex a little was frustrating. I ended up replacing them with "NiCopp" (Nickel -copper) lines as it's way easier to flare and bend.

Richard, your work is outstanding as usual. I'm putting in a hour or so every evening to get the chassis finished up. Definitely shooting for Cruisin the Coast. Oct 1st-8th this year. You still planning on making it down??

THANKS- Shannon,

and like your work isn't outstanding as well?!!!

The Cruisin the Coast is almost a definite-

My friends that I have done the HRPT for the last 3 years aren't doing it this year-but getting a house for the week of CTC.

My goal is the 73 for the HRPT and the 71 V12 for the Coast.

I'll either text or email in a few weeks when the wife starts lining up a hotel.

now get back to work!!!!

Thanks.. Went to a local car show today on the beach. A hand full of vert C3's. Got me really motivated as it was clear blue skies, white sand and in the 80s. Hopefully have her back on the road in a month or so as summer is here, and I'm itching to cruise.
