Rear spring bracket
While loading my vette on the trailer, I noticed the bracket holding the rear spring only had two bolts... Is this normal?

No there needs to be 4 bolts holding it in place. Lucky nothing came apart on you.

Also, the bolts need to be tightened and torqued with the weight of the car on the ground. Hope the threads are OK.

Check your diff cover too. One of my bolts is broken off in the ear on the cover: could be the same for you, explaining why you only have 2.

The 2 bolts closet to the cover or front of the car are shorter than the rear two. Probably broke off. Mine did the same. Noticed it at a muffler shop. Had to drill it with a left handed bit. Came right out.

The original covers can crack. Get a heavy duty replacement if it is cracked. You are lucky
that the spring did not flip out on you. Lou.

Thanks for this thread. CherryBomb and Clams, I have Walt Thurn's How to Restore a C3 and some of his recommended torque specs do NOT align with my 76' AIM. For example, on Page 108 of his book he recommends 100 foot pounds for the leaf spring 4 bolts. The AIM has those 4 bolts at 60-80 foot pounds.
What do you think, stick with the AIM?

I think you'd do better asking in a new thread, rather than an 8 year old thread out of the past.
