I think it was posted during your leave of absence. Welcome to my 75 corvette thread, affectionately known as lil red or the beater vette depending on if I'm mad at it or not.
I needed some interior parts for the 75 and found a 74 being parted out on craigslist. Turns out the seller actually knew my dad from back in the day and had some told me he had a huge respect for my dad's quality of fiberglass work. I was mainly after the new in box black carpeting, bezel and brake console for lil red, but after the deal he tossed out to me on the whole package I had to go grab my truck and trailer.
The wife asked what I was up to, I told her I probably shouldn't tell her and sent her this picture and said I loved her. She said it better not be another corvette.
It was...
The rockers are shot but the rest of the birdcage and windshield frame look solid. This will listed on here shortly for cheap to a good home. The seller needed it out of his wife's garage spot.
My truck bed was packed full of the entirety of the interior components for a 74 neutral interior color car. Almost all the interior is Corvette America reproductions. It also came with leather seats in decent shape. The interior components will be assessed for use in my 68 since some of the components aren't in great shape due to sitting outside so long.
It followed me home Honey! Honest! We have to keep it! I mean, we couldn't just turn away such a cute little car now could we??!! It needs a loving home, and we can give it the love it needs. Ah Sweetie, you are so wonderful! Way to go Chuck!! Good looking stuff! It was too good of a deal to pass up!
I removed the carb this evening. I'm going to try and give it a rebuild and try and figure out the vacuum line situation and see if that along with adjusting the timing fixes some of the running issues with the car.
Good deal! While cleaning out the garage tonight I found three carbs! And they all need rebuilt!
I'm sure we have around 15 or 20 rochesters and holleys at the main garage. Was just over there tonight grabbing parts to sent down to David for my 68 chassis rebuild and walked past piles of carbs. This would be the first I have ever worked on though, not used to this old technology lol.
Yeah I seem to be getting pulled in every possible direction between these 2 builds. I really need to pull the replacement front suspension for the 68 apart for Davidso we can assess the condition before I ship him anything.
Almost finished with the carb rebuild. I was able to put the carb back together from memory of taking it apart the other day. I put on the thermostat housing from a later qjet that had an electric choke already and have a new electric choke to install still. I need to pick up a tap for the screws that came with the kit.
Looks good! Rebuilt carbs feel so much better. After I did the q-jet on my '71 it looks so nice it made me want to clean everything else in the engine bay! One thing after another... Lol

Thanks! After I got it cleaned up I thought about buying new vacuum pulloffs to clean it up even more, but the $50 didn't seem worth it with my other vette taking priority of my wallet at the moment.
Thankfully this vette hasn't been too bad on my wallet so far. I've avoided project creep to keep this one on the road as much as possible. I'll be running to the parts store after work for a fuel filter and some wiring to hook up the electric choke. Should be a fun evening.

I'm just finishing a 2 year 1976 project so I have no need for a wallet....nothing left to put in it.....
Well the rebuilt Quadrajet performed quite well this evening. Adding the electric choke and actually having a working choke was nice. She fired up the first time and only took a couple pumps on the gas to start and keep running. It used to take 10 minutes feathering the gas to keep it running on a cold start.
Now my only issue is getting the idle lowered down to ~750rpm. With the adjustment screw all the way down I am running at around 1200 rpm in park. I think the previous owner advanced the timing quite a bit. I'll be playing around with the timing the next time I'm at the garage to try and drop the idle down.
