Default A Pillar Molding Attachment

My '68 roadster is missing the attachment tabs (plastic that looks like Velcro) that are supposed to be installed (with rivets) on the windshield pillars. I have searched the Internet as well as the forum and can only find the ones that go on the door panels or T-tops. There is nothing to attach the new moldings. the ones I removed were glued on. Does anyone have a source for these? Thanks.

Hi TS,
The original tabs were pop-riveted in place.
I believe the oval velcro tabs now available can be drilled and mounted using 1/8" diameter pop-rivets.
I'd file the head a little flatter and experiment with how long the shaft needs to be to get a good 'set' without going too far into the foam padding so it makes a bump visible from the vinyl side.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Remains of drilled original pop rivets.

New tabs pop riveted in place on reproduction trim.

Alan,

Thanks for responding. I am looking for the ones that attach to the windshield frame of the car. Are they the same? I bought new moldings but there is nothing on the car to secure them. What are they called? I can't seem to locate them. Thanks.

On the forum here, was a thread that very early 68's had one or two screws to hold the pillar trim on. No plastic velcro. Lou.

Hi TS,
Look for the loose oval velcro tabs in the roof panel repair section of the catalogues.
