When I bought mine I could afford a really good rubber bumper Vette or a crappy chrome bumper model. Easy choice. My `76 has a rock solid frame, the bird cage and windshield frame are good, it has a new crate engine with 5k on it, the paint is in nice shape (no spidering or bubbling) and will blind you on a sunny day, the engine bay is very clean and looks great (too much chrome for me though, I'll be going back to mostly stock), the interior is mostly new, the exhaust is excellent and the tires are new BFG's. I've had it for 5 years and all I've done is put a brake line on it.

I actually have the adapter kit and a new steering wheel sitting in my shop for mine. Not changing because it was used on other cars (Vegas, Camaros, Novas etc). Couldn't care less about that. It just doesn't look like a Corvette wheel should to me. Plus I like deep dish wheels. That includes the four that hold my car up. Don't care for the flat faced style that's on everything now. They look like hubcaps.
I'm actually going to install it. I meant it's in my shop because I haven't done it yet. I keep coming up with other stuff to do so I don't have to tackle it. I've had some ego bruising experiences with steering wheels. I'm so bad at working on horn assemblies I can accidentally make one blow without the battery connected.
Have you ever sat in a 68 with the original steering wheel? You better have skinny legs...
I dig your car. I would buy one in a heartbeat (a roadster anyway). Except for CA smog... I think it has to be a 75 or earlier to be exempt. I forget.
I say screw the uppity people who only like bumper cars.
Cuz bumper car guys envy the mid-years.
It's all good. Enjoy your beautiful car and keep 'em alive.
I recall back in the day, the C3 being a pretty desirable car. At least for me anyway. I almost bought a 69 big block. And later on an 82. If u look at desirable yr corvettes, every generation has yr models that are less desirable. Love the one you're with.
A corvette is a corvette and the C3s have always been my favorite generation. Since the mid 80's, I've owned a 69, 73, 76 and currently own a beautiful '79. While I own other very nice cars, my '79 is definitely my favorite. Everywhere I drive it, I get lots of waves and thumbs ups. Haters will hate, that's their problem. Enjoy your '76!
I like the old MGB's and Triumphs too. They went through the same crash bumper era as the C3's. The mid 70's and newer have plastic molded bumpers. They're distinct from the chrome bumper cars and are worth less but they're still considered desirable and collectible. They're also more likely to be modified now because they cost less, just like the 74 and up Vettes. There's actually a `79 MGB for sale near me right now with a SBC engine in it. I wish I had the spare cash and room to park it.
