been playing with this for years . when I first start the car I have a normal brake pedal . but the car will roll to a stop the brakes have very little to do with the stop .after the car is warm the brakes are fine . I have had them bled multiple times . changed the master cylinder . have replace all 4 calipers in the last couple years . I do not have a hard pedal and if I try to stop when cold the pedal does not go all the way to the floor it seems normal . any ideas even took it to a place that has rebuilt vets for years .
Hmmm...OK. Your explanation is a little strangely worded.
when I first start the car I have a normal brake pedal
I asume this means the pedal feels as it should, does not go to the floor or feel spongy?
but the car will roll to a stop the brakes have very little to do with the stop .
How the hell do you stop if the brakes don't contribute to the stop?
This is the confusing part, Does this mean you have to press harder on the pedal to get it to stop, but the pedal still is not spongy?
after the car is warm the brakes are fine
So after the car is warm and you have made several strange stops the brakes work and the car stops as it should with normal pedal pressure?
the rest was pretty clear: Bled brakes, new MC, new Calipers.
Did you do anything to resurface the rotors? Check and compensate for rotor runout? New or resurfaced pads?
Glazed rotors or pads could cause what your talking about. Runout is important to check when you pull the rotors, it will make the calipers pump in and out and they can suck in air.
1 the brake pedal seems normal when the car is cold but if you press them they don't go to the floor but the car will stop but say at 5 miles a hour it takes probably 30 feet to stop .
2the brakes stop the car but its not like when there hot its like theres pressure on the pads but not enough to make a good stop .
if I just let the car set and rund for a while then take it out they work the first time I use them .
kind of hard to explain and really makes no sense , but they have been like this for years even with changing parts .
have bakes now . it was the booster . the one I had ordered from napa was suppose to be the exact replacement . was going to do it myself but decided to have my mechanic do it took him 1 1/2 hour and he has all the right tools . only problem now is it seems the pedal is to high but he says its adjusted as far as it will go . I will have to get use to it . been playing with this for years .
