Morning Gentlemen, I looking for information on the different types of coatings GM used on their nuts and bolts for the chassis for my 1970 C-3 i.e. paint, cadmium plating, etc and the location on the nuts and bolts. My bolts that hold the bumpers on have no finish left them like most of the others on the vehicle. I also need to replace a few. Does anyone know who sells classic nuts and bolts? I figure I'm going this far restoring the vehicle I would like to keep the Cuffs And Collars matching.... Droop

I bought a little rock tumbler at harbor freight with a bottle of media and it will make your nuts and bolts like new ,then I took them to my local plating shop a large coffee can full and for $70 the zinc plated them.Take in mind I was not worried about originality I was more looking for protection. The whole process was less than $200 the ones in this picture have not been plated yet .

I got A lot of my bolts from AMK products. All with correct finishes. They have a online catalog. Just match up the part numbers from your assembly manual.

Many of the bolts offer multiple options for the finish, and it's usually a 50/50 shot if AMK has the bolt.
The NCRS technical discussion board has a wealth of information concerning finishes. So does Alan.
