Default Replace Metal on Upper Seat

Does anyone know how to remove the metal piece that's attached to the upper seat back-rest? I want to touch it up, but I want to make the process as easy as possible. Thanks for the assist!

A photo would help greatly. Year model of seat also. Because a 1968 seat frame is not the same as a 1976 seat frame.

Just taking a stab at it...not knowing what you have....and if you are referring to the chrome hinge that ATTACHES to the seat back frame...or if you are referring to the release mechanism that allows you to get the seat to go forward.

Either way...the seat cover needs to be somewhat released to get to the seat back release mechanism...and the two screws that hold the chrome bezel that goes around the button in the rear head rest area needs to come out so the cover can be pulled apart there so you can gain access to the two nuts that hold it under the bezel area....then you have 4 small screws that also are holding it to the seat frame...and then the two bolts that hold it to the seat bottom frame.

Thanks for the reply! It's a '75. So it's just the metal piece that runs across the front of the back-rest.

There are 3 studs on the back of that trim piece with speed nuts holding it to the frame.
To get at them, you will need to:
Remove the plastic rear of the seat cover
Remove the chrome trim around the release button
Remove (cut) the hog-rings holding the two flaps of the cover to the frame
Remove the center seat release mechanism
Dig out the foam on the seat back to get at the outer nuts...

In other words, it's a big deal and you can easily cause more harm (tearing the cover is a possibility)

In all honesty, I'd take the seat out, bag it, mask off the trim and re-paint it in place
