First trip other than to work (40 mile round trip) was from my home in Palm Desert , Ca. down highway 86 by the Salton Sea then over to Julian in the mountains about half way to San Diego for some bar b que and ice cream then continued to Warner Springs and down Extremely curvy Highway 74 back to Palm Desert. About 200 miles I think, at the time I was still feeling out the car but it ran superbly all the way. Looking forward to longer trips this winter in So Cal.
When I had my yellow '68, I bought the car in Vienna, Ohio and drove it back to Clearwater/Florida, 1120 miles of driving... just stopped for gas and food..
I just purchased my white/blue '68 convertible in Forney/TX (near Dallas) and drove the car home to Lakeland/FL.. It's usually a 1100 mile trip but the battery on my phone which I used as GPS went out and I missed a turn and drove 15 miles in the wrong direction, adding 30 miles to the trip.. 1130 miles total for the trip.. Very similar distance than my trip home with the yellow car..
Got home after midnight, so technically it was not within the same calendar day but both trips were within a 24 hour period..

Haha! didn't realize you snapped that pic But you know what they say "luck favors the prepared"
It was great meeting you guys as well... my wife took a couple /really/ nice shots of your 73. Once the new memory card reader arrives I'll e-mail them off to ya
Over the holiday weekend here we ran down to the Goodguy's Heartland nationals in Des Moines, Ia about 230miles round trip, plus driving around town... but more on that later
All of these long haul stories are making me feel better about my short 75 mile trip planned for tomorrow. I'm still planning on bringing along some tools just in case...
Wish me luck

The longest distance I've driven my C3 non-stop was from Dallas, Tx to my home in B'ham, Al.....673 miles. Drove it during the hottest part if the summer. No problems at all.
Have made the trip from B'ham to Bowling Green, Ky a few times.....270 miles one way.

Yep, always took tools along back in the seventies on road trips. Had to stop a few times to file the points and then use a matchbook cover to set the gap.
Any vehicle can make a long distance trip as long as it doesn't have any major problems before you start out.
You obviously wouldn't want to head out on a long road trip if your Vette has any major current problems, (transmission skipping, engine knocking, excessive engine smoking, unusually low oil pressure, strange unknown noises, doesn't run hot etc,).
As long as the car is in basically good condition.....just make sure your belts, hoses and ignition points are all in good shape. Checkout alternator and starter. That's about all that normally will leave you stranded.
Once you start the car, it will normally continue to run unless you have an overheating issue or major component goes out.
Most people will drive their classic Corvettes cars at least 5 to 10 miles per week. That's covering around 40 miles per month or over 500 miles per year. It's all just stop and go short drives instead of long constant driving.
The 75 mile cruise went by without any drama. Beautiful morning winding thru the 2 lane roads of Princeton NJ.
Now I have total confidence in the car. Oil pressure and water temp was spot on.
Several waves and thumbs up from passers by.. Pretty cool.
Awesome! Glad to here it. It is really nice when you can just enjoy the drive. Though, even on power tour there was a couple times my wife asked nervously:
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
