I know this topic has been covered before. I cannot find the section. I am almost wrapped up on the new frame to my 69 corvette. I did two inch lowering springs in the front. 2 inch lowering bolts on the rear 9 leaf spring. I want to put on 17 inch Torque Thrusts and hope they fit nicely under the fenders without too much rubbing. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I do not want to use wheel spacers. tire size recommendations are welcome too. The car has stock trailing arms also THANK YOU!

I have 245x45x
17 tires and torque thrust ll wheels.
awsome! I am going for the same look. can you give me the wheel specs? back space? spacers? tire size? thanks !
no spacers, tire size is 245x45x17. The sidewall is not as tall and gives it a more sleek look. look at wheels for less at the torque thrust ll, I think I have 4.17 backspace, no problems, fit right on.
I am running 17 by 8 with 4.5 inch backspace . Tires are 255/50/17 on rear 255/45/17 front . Went with the 255/45/17 for front because some have said the 255/50/17 can rub at full turn on some vehicles .
I sized these nine years ago so some of the details are not crisp. I do not remember the rear back spacing. 17x8 and 17x9.5, 255 and 285. I had to relocate the parking brake cable and am using a narrow spring. IIRC the stock width spring might have worked but since I was adding a glass one I had it mad a little shorter.
Since it's a '69 in question here I thought I'd toss a few shots of my 17x8, 17x9.5 set on the '69 that I usually keep them on. They've never rubbed (on either the '69 or'72) and the car has not been babied. But that's not to say that some cars might have an issue.
For tires, 255/50-17 look great but often rub slightly in the front at full lock. Work fine in the rear. For the front you may want to stick with 245/50-17.
I like 18" wheels on the C3's. Just enough to fill the wheelwell nicely.
Here's my moms car with some 20's off another car of mine...I was just seeing what it would look like. A bit big...20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear. Rubbed a tad in rear when accelerating hard.
There's really long thread about installing 18 inch wheels to a C3. I used wheel dimensions obtained from this thread to buy 18 inch Torque Thrust II wheels. Do a search and enjoy.
17" wheels...why not go to 18" inch wheels, there's a much better selection of tires.
I have offset trailing arms and a shortened transverse rear end spring. I replaced the stock steel.multi-leaf spring with a mono-leaf spring from VB&P. My 68 trailing arms are from VB&P and the 70 trailing arms are from Tom's Differential. My composite spring was reduced in length by 1/2 inch to aid with adding 18 inch wheels with large rim dimensions.
