Default Wheel Identification

I found out my car was ordered with the aluminum wheels, but when I got the car last year it had the rally wheels on it. I just purchased alloy wheels and new tires. I want to identify the wheels to see if they are worth selling or scrapping. I have some numbers off the wheels and I saw what looked like a GM part number on the center caps, but forgot to take a picture. So, do these look correct for a '77 Corvette or are they for some other year/car? Thanks!

I think more identifying stampings are going to be near the valve stem hole. Remove the trim ring and post another picture two of this stamping. From the pics you have posted, they appear to be the correct 15x8 Corvette rally wheels.

As for value -- the steel rims, trim rings and caps are definitely worth $300 to $500 for the complete set depending on the date codes, condition and whether the tires have any usable life left in them.

Pop a trim ring off, and look to see what's stamped by the valve stem hole. If they're Corvette 15x8 rally wheels (which they do appear to be), they will have an "AZ" stamped near the valve stem hole, along with other numbers and digits that identify the manufacturer, date and assembly plant.

AZ wheels with the correct trim rings in good shape, and center caps in good shape too, are easily worth $400-$500 for a set.

Thanks, I just took more pictures a few minutes ago. They are all stamped AZ, but think they may be more than 1 date code.

The tires are 245/60 R15 and actually have a lot of tread, the bad part is the date code for them is from 2002. I wouldn't use them for much other than show, although I have had them on the highway recently. The age of the tires is why I looked into tires and then decided to go 17 inch wheels and tires.

One last factor to determine the re-sale value of your rally wheel package is to determine if the trim rings are the OEM style or not. The OEM style rings have 4 clips that secure them to the steel wheel. The first picture is of an OEM style trim ring and the 2nd is of a non-OEM style ring.

Very helpful, thanks Revi! A PO went to a lot of trouble to get wheels with a date code that makes sense for this car.

Now I just wish they had sent the right size lug nuts with my wheels. They put 1997 Corvette instead of 1977 even though I told the sales guy it was 1977 when he read 1997 and promised he fixed that.
