Default brake pedal removal

brake switch arm broke off while I was reconnecting the booster, so i'll need to reweld it.
what's involved in removing the brake pedal in an 80 auto?
does the dash have to come out for access or can I get in through the instument cluster?

If you're talking about the brake switch striker plate, it's bolted on, not welded.

If that's not what you're talking about, you do not need to remove the dash to remove the pedal assembly, but it does make it easier. Not a pleasant job.

And thanks for the reply.

Now I'm off to find some pics that show how it bolts up.

It helps to pull the pin on the brake plunger to get some more room, as well as taking the drivers seat out of course

For this repair, I think you really need to remove the steering column. It's not that difficult...just a few screws.

I had to access this part of the interior to complete installation of my Hydroboost. While there I renewed up things like putting in a new clutch pedal arm and buying all the plastic bushings. With the steering column out, I replaced it's lower ball bearing....good thing...it was very rust damaged. Jim Shea has a faq on how to replace this bearing. I think it's on corvettefaq.com.
