Hey everyone, I just picked up my first project car. Its a 1977 350 coupe for 2k. the car runs great, no noticeable rust. The front left tire does rub on the frame though, not sure if its due to the tire being to big or if its a problem in the suspension. I drained the fuel, oil, coolant and replaced all filters and the car fired right up. I found this car in a lot sitting for over a year under the sun so the paint has been ruined on it and it was sitting on its rims. the previous owner had also installed an aftermarket sound system with this bass that drowns out the sound of the car which i'm not a fan of. I am new at restoring cars and really only have the weekends to work on the car but any advice you veterans could give me would be greatly appreciated. My wife an I both love this car and i'm looking forward to restoring it to its former glory. Thanks for your time.
P.S: I will try and upload some pics for you guys as soon as i am able too.
Sorry a bit skeptical "Its a 1970 350 coupe for 2k. the car runs great no noticeable rust"
if you are for real, you stole it, and accept my apology.
Yes i am for real haha. the last owner took it to one of those "Easy Cash" shops and fell behind on his payments so the company was going to repo it to get their money back. I just paid off the late fees and the gave me the title.
Seriously, a 1970 for 2 grand and it runs good. Wow talking about being in the right place at the right time. Need to see pics of the whole car please.
Nice project!
I am with Adam, looks like you made a typo, 77 most likely (rubber bumpers, front corvette signs etc...).
For 2k, a 77 which runs is a very good deal in my books!
Ah sorry guys, my wife just pointed out my error it is a 77. The front left tire that rubs is a 255/60R15 I'm not seeing any rub points on the right side with the same tire
255/60/R15 is one of those tires sizes that can either rub or not rub depending on your specific car. I'm upgrading to them from the stock size of 225/70R15 (almost the exact same diameter, slightly narrower) on my 1974, so we'll see if I end up with the same issue you're having. It might be a tired suspension, but it also might just be the car.
Congratulations! When you have that thing up to snuff, it will be a fraternal twin of my 1974, except for the differences due to the model year, and my interior is black.
Now that's more like it. Still a 77 for $ 2 grand is a good deal. Cant really tell by the pics, but look for rust in the bird cage and all the other places that need a look see. Check your wiring, looks like a few items have been spliced. your Alt. is not plugged in either. Look and make sure your front "a" arm mounts are good, if your having a tire rubbing on the left.
Have fun.
