Default 71 Seat Resto

Looking for a good upholsterer in the LI NY area. Want to re-do seats in my 71. Got quote yesterday that was a bit high. Thanks.

I did mine, with the help of my wife not that hard. I even installed new foam.

just the hog ring pliers, and I bought them with the clips covers and foam all came from Wilcox corvette. There are a lot videos on how to do them.

Definitely a DIY project if you the least bit handy. Pull the seats and spread it all out on a big table and go at it. As was said, there's lots of videos and the foam and hog ring players are available. Much satisfaction after you get it done and everyone asks who did your seats. You can probably make some $$ off other gear heads in the area. You probably also need a hair dryer. That will soften up the vinyl before you put the skins on, and will help work out some wrinkles after everything is in place. SPray silicone or thin mil plastic over the foam will make the skins slide over the foam easily. Good luck and let's see pics when you are done. You will also know WHY some upholsterers charge so much by the time you are finished.

Agree with the above posters. I did mine in the comfort of my living room. After disassembling and bead blasting outdoors. Lol. New foam, new covers. I guess if you want custom, you can go that route, but I just set up a folding table and would watch a little bit of the Corvette America seat cover installation video on my computer, complete those steps. Watch a little more, complete the next steps. Soon it was all done and very professional looking.
