U Joint Question
I AGREE with Solid LT1.
Get SPICER U-JOINTS that DO NOT have a grease fitting in it. You might 'think' that using a U-joint with a grease fitting is better....but in your case.....Big Block and 4 speed.....you actually would be better off with a solid U-joint hat HAS NO grease fitting in it...and they will last a very long time....depending on how much abuse you put the car through. NO Corvette left the plant with a U-joint in it that had a grease fitting in it that I am aware of. And using the argument that you want to be able to grease the U-joint and make them last...just does not 'fly' with me because I have replaced countless U-joints with the solid design...and they last a LONG time. The last set I replaced lasted 70,000 miles on street driver....which is why I give 5 year/50,000 guarantee to the Spicers I put in (excluding drag strip applications). And I wish I had a photo of cars that I have had to repair that the half shaft U-joint broke and damaged the underbody. SO...if getting new U-joints....do yourself a favor and get the Heavy Duty ones with NO grease fitting.....or don't....it is your car and do as you wish.
