Default Silver Anniversary Question

First post, but have been a lurker for the last two years. I might be buying this 78 and know the body is not exactly correct. It is cheap enough so that originality is not a real concern to me....I am looking for a nice, good quality driver for my wife.

My question is this however...It appears to me the front spoiler is from a Pace Car or 79, but the rear looks like an 80/81 rear bumper cover. Could one of you C3 experts confirm that or set me straight...?

Thanks!

yep and yep.
Pace car/optional 79 front spoiler popular dealer addition on 78s and the later C3 rear bumper is a popular mod.
Car looks good in the pics.

I have the same car, PC front, 80-81 rear.
Check and see why the rear was changed. Collision damage?

Doesn't this one have the correct (not for 78SA, but for 78PC or 79 option) spoiler on the rear? It looks like the bolt on one to me, not the molded in version of 80/81.

Yep. Correct. Bolt on rear spoiler.

I mis-typed, ment to say the OP's car has the later rear piece. Not mine. My bad, sorry.

Well, some more information today.....

This car came from California several years ago and is completely rust free, as much as possible anyway, underneath. Everything under the car has been repainted and replaced.

And now for the real story. It is an L48, but has a factory replacement engine. The front spoiler and the rear bumper cover are there because the previous owner liked them that way. The car has headers with stainless exhaust.

So what we are looking at is what I call a resto-driver. The car was restored by the PO to his tastes. I personally like it. My buddy, who told me about the car says the car is the real deal and he wanted to buy it but had no money due to trying to keep his two businesses afloat.

The car is for sale due to the death of the person who "restored" it...and he was a personal friend of my buddy. He wanted to buy the car when it first came back from CA...it was that nice and has now been improved.

The car is in IL and I live in WA, so it will be a drive to pick it up, but I believe I can buy it, haul it home, drive it for a year and get my money back if I need or want to.

All in all, I am looking at it as a good deal for me, a daily driver for the wife, and a way to get back into Corvettes after 7 or 8 years without one. Might be the right car at the right time.

We shall see..

BTW, Dodosmike, I like your car!
