Has anyone achieved perfect?
Everyone I know buys classics cars with little things to fix. Has anyone ever actually perfected their car or is there always more to do. I want to one day have my 1976 look just like the ones in the magazines but I feel like that it may never come through.

The day my car is perfect is the day I'll sell it. Working on my car is one of the joys in my life.

If mine is ever perfect, I'll have to sell it and start over.

As anyone who ever restored a car will tell you. They are never done and they can never be perfect.

Pretty much says it all. They were never perfect from the factory. Anyone who restors a car, and makes it perfect.... has done it wrong!

I believe that our cars tend to show our personalities. I know mine will never be perfect because I also know that I am far from perfect.

As the saying at Porsche goes, "Perfekt ist nicht gut genug." (
Perfect is not good enough .) But, perfectionism is highly subjective, and its pursuit a curse not easily broken. That said, IMHO ~$100K more should probably put my shark pretty dang close to being good enough. YMMV

I have a list of things to fix for each of my cars. I keep a notebook for them, and make a list of all the little things that I find to fix. I use this to work on the cars and check off the items that get fixed. That way I know what needs to be done, and can use it to order parts, or make repairs.
I update this each month, and its amazing at how many new things I find to add to the list. It seems the more that I fix and repair, the more new items I find to add to the list.

If I'm still smiling, when I'm pulling back into the driveway when I get back home, that's perfect enough for me.

When cars reach 40+ years old and have a lot of miles on them there is always something in need of fixing.

I've had a lot of cars..some pretty nice, but none of them "perfect".
I question if there really is such a thing as "perfect".
I drive my cars, I have no desire for a show car.

Perfect-as in flawless, or PerFect-as in attempting to finish? I gave up on the first, and don't have the time or money for the second!

If I had a thousand years and a hermetically sealed garage with nothing to do but work on a C3 Corvette I could reasonally get halfway close.
