Any "Factory Correct" Restorations going on?
How about a good old "back to factory" picture/post thread? It's been nothing but chop this shine that lately.....

68
My 68 hadn't run in over 10 years, 49,000 original miles. All original. No keys when I got it. 3 weeks ago I got it running. Bad coil ground. I ran a new ground from the coil to the points and it runs like a champ. Working on the brakes now, all AC parts. No intention of painting it.

72 ls5 and l48
I'm currently working to finish my 65. While I'm working on that, I'm also working to put a 72 L48 back to stock.
After they are done, I'll start on my 72 Warbonnet Yellow Ls5 Cpe.
All will be stock with the execption of the radial tires.

I'm in the process of restoring my early 68 convertible. Date is October 67 build. Pretty much all the one off parts are intact. I am attempting to bring it back the best I can to factory with the exception of adding power steering so my wife can drive and enjoy the experience of a classic car.

I think there are a lot of us who try to keep our cars as original as possible. There's not as much posting on it because it's not as exciting to say you just replaced your "keep your GM car all GM" sticker right after some guy posted that he just installed a 7000 hp engine.

Unfortunately I do not have the extra $30,000 above the $20,000 allocated-retirement "fund" to restore my "tractor-shed find" '68 basket-case.

Seems boring to say that I'm restoring a 68 big block convertible to as close to factory as possible. I'm not bored, but some people might be.

I debated if I should reply to this thread. It asks for factory correct builds. We fall between that and wild mods. We`re building a 71 coupe that will be very close to original when we`re done. We`re it`s 3rd owner, and the numbers match. It had 100,000 on it and a busted nose. We put another front clip...from another car (NOT a one piece repop!) There will be a few other subtle changes that only a true connoisseur (or NCRS judge) would notice.... like the center grill moved forward, black paint removed from the sides of the "Stingray" emblems, electric head light doors, and 4 stop/tail lights, enginge bored 30 over. Otherwise, pretty much all going back as it was originally.

Although my 72 looks pretty much stock it was not one of my concerns when I did a body off restoration because I didn't want the hassles and I want to be able to drive it . It's great that some people are doing their part to preserve the originality of Corvettes but it's just not for me. I'm especially not into body modifications though but not against someone doing it to their car either . They bought it , they own it , and they like it. That's all that counts.

Care to share some further details here? Colors, engines, options, etc?
Maybe, I should have posted "other than our ZIO!" Keep up the thread! I told you my opinion before!

I do realize that not everyone uses Facebook. Still, it allows me to access and control content of what is being posted a lot easier than here. That's probably the main reason that I use it to post restoration oriented information.
Some pretty cool stuff currently in the works... A 1969 L-89, a 1970 LT-1, and a 1972 ZR-1. Might be worth a look!

Stan

Spending a lot of time searching for ways to decrease the horsepower and methods to fit narrower tires on 8" wheels.
