Hi, I got my vacuum problem solved. But how do you replace a defective Windshield wiper door control solonoid (tachometer). Do you have to pull the dash?
thanks
Many pull the dash. It's been a while, but I simply used a small socket and nut driver with the pictures below as a guide. You can locate the offending screws with your fingers to act as a guide. Are you sure it's the solenoid that's giving you trouble? Not easy to test without removal.
Unless you already tested it and are sure it needs replacement, ask Dave how to test it in the car. Unfortunately I talked to Dave After R&R.
I had mine out of my '70; dash in, to bench test it. and it was very tough to remove. If you have your driver's seat out it would be easier. Rough on my back and getting dust in my eyes. Like Dave said use a socket (1/4" as I recall). It's one of those parts that you say to yourself; once I get it out how will I get it back in. Good luck.

I replaced mine without removing the dash. I crawled under and really didn't have any issues. I will say i'm pretty skinny and am able to get underneath pretty easy to get a good look at things.
