Default New to forum, new to vette's and new 78 pace car

Hello everyone. Recently got myself a 79 pace car. 100% original, numbers matching with 40k miles on it. Paint is terribly spider-webbed and interior is about a 4 out of 10. Engine seems ok, needs a valve cover gasket and some carb work. I'm waiting on antique tags and will be driving it for about a month before tear down for paint. I would like to paint it prior to cold winter here in central PA. Then onto new interior hopefully done before nice spring weather. Any advice, info or help would led be nice!!!!

Thanks

Welcome to the forum and the C3 club!!!

Let us know what you need help with and I am sure we all will be more than willing to help out. I my self have a 79 which has pretty much all the same part as the 78. I have used tires with less then 800 miles if you need them.

Post some pics of your new ride!

Again welcome aboard!

As far as painting, are you planning on painting yourself? Have you ever done anything like this? It is a major undertaking as I have done this just within the last 1.5 years. I took it all the way down to bare glass and redid the seams. Hell of a lot of work and you NEED to spend the time to do it right otherwise the final product will not look that great and you will see ever flaw.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 78 SA and decided to do a resto-mod. As the other poster mentioned, it will take a lot of work. Changed the rear bumper and front spoiler. Ordered new parts; but took a lot of work to get the lines correct.

Good luck on your Vette.

I have painted years ago. Around 20 to be exact! I'm excited about the newer technologies. We used to spend weeks getting everything perfect, then spray acrylic enamel. Looked perfect! Come back the next day and it was full of dirt and a few bugs. I have some of the body seems starting to separate so I will need some advice on best practices to fix that. Also will need some good info on the q-jet and vacuum system cause it's not starting good or idling cold. I also found a vacuum line laying on the intake I got to figure out where it came from.

Congrats on your purchase! Do you mind if I ask where in central PA you live? I'm in south Central PA near Lancaster.
