What is this?
What is this can for and what does it hook to? Its below the vacuum tank and brake booster. Im stumped. Trying to get my headlight vacuum system reinstalled. Thanks for any comments.
This is on a 1971 model fyi..
It's the vapor canister for the gas tank.
The canister is filled with charcoal.
A hose (the one you see) connects to a hard line that travels back along the frame rail to a vapor separator mounted on the upper left side of the gas tank.
There are 2 more 'pipes' as you see, both missing rubber hoses.
The larger runs to a tee at the pcv valve and then on to a large nipple on the front base of the carb.
The smaller runs directly to a small nipple low on the front of the carb.
The system including the sealed tank and was introduced to reduce emissions. It was known as EEC… Evaporative Control System.
A couple of pictures…. happen to be from a 71 also.

Alan

Vapors from the gas tank and fuel system, vent to the charcoal canister.
