Default Just call me Bubba....

OK..I'll admit it I have a few Bubba fixes on my '72....What have Ya'll done and will admit to....?

Here is my latest....It took one hydraulic fitting from Tractor Supply and 2 from eBay but I gotter done. The heater hose now has a cutoff valve. I even had to grind about 1/4" off the bottom of the valve to clear part of the head.

There is another "Bubba fix" in the last pic but I bet nobody can spot it...?

Looks to me to be a mechanical temperature gauge line?... Not 100% though

Actually, your fix is more like a Rube Goldberg project. It's more complicated than it needs to be (but still well done). I just put a simple lever actuated ball valve in one of the heater hose lines running along the inside of the right fender. Painted it semi-flat black to 'blend in' with the territory.

Now, if Bubba would have done that job, it would have been with an old hose bib he 'borrowed' off some neighbor's house.....

Extra temp gauge is correct....The stock gauge had readings around 215-220 when I first drove it home. I added the additional gauge after testing it to see where the temps really were....180-190 on the new gauge. I will eventually fix the stock gauge and then remove the extra gauge.

Yes the fuel line is also bubba fixed until I can get or make a steel one....When I bought the car the steel fuel line was hitting the heater hose fitting and the valve cover.

I did over do it and it's not near as neat as I envisioned it to be.

The breather/air cleaner hose is made from one took off a BMW.

I guess we all have pet peeves but the term "bubba" and what is seems to mean here down right irks me,

Only on this forum is there a word "Bubba" that means both something that could be a total hack job or something done very well but not the way a stock loving purist would do it OR not how the fellow whining about it would do it...so what?

Car crafting ( not bone stock restorations ) is all about making things work in a way that is many time better than what the factory did and does require the builder to think outside a box....I see nothing Hack jobbed about your valve, in fact it looks pretty cool to me....

I think I will head out to diznee this after...

What was Bubba fixing by putting the valve covers on backward?

Yep...Got to swap them....Previous owner had a reproduction LT-1 air cleaner on it so putting oil in it wasn't an issue then....I put the original dual inlet air cleaner back on it.

Bats...I used the term "Bubba" because I had to buy parts from all over the place to get this mod to work...Plus grind about 1/4" off the ball valve. I got a few other fixes along these lines on my car...However I don't take offence to the term Bubba...I kinda wear it with pride.

I like the idea of a hose bib. I'll keep that in mind for my next car!

Tack welded my new heat riser open. When I bought the car the original was rusted shut. Not necessary in Miami and the tack can be removed.

That's not a Bubba fix. A Bubba fix would have been to leave the valve alone and grind the head down...

Back in the 60's the term was "Mickey Moused". So this was Micked and that was Micked. Of the 15 Corvettes I have owned 12 have been Micked to the max! That is the challenge!
