1972 Barn Find - Advice Needed
I have the opportunity to purchase a barn find 1972 Vette. My experience is with C2 Vettes, so I'm hoping for some advice on this.
I am gathering details on the car and will update this as I get more info. But here is what I have been told about the car so far:
- 1 owner
- all original
- 36,000 actual miles
- 350 ci (don't know the HP yet)
- Automatic
- Ontario Orange
- Convertible with Both tops
- No documentation other than the original title
- the car hasn't been started or moved in at least 11 years
I know it's hard to determine what a car like this is worth based on limited information. That being said, I would appreciate input on what everyone thinks something like this might be worth.
Thanks in advance for your time and info!
Has it always been parked where you are looking at it?
I would base the price on immediate issues you will be dealing with-new tires, fuel tank replacement/flush, hose/s replacement, transporting it home, etc.
Prices vary considerably, on originality, rust/lack of it, color combination, etc.
Fair to say if rust isn't an issue, even "non-running, as is where is" it should be worth $10K+ as it sits.
Check E-Bay sold listings to get you in the ball park.
Good luck!

From the provided pic it has been sitting a long time.
So pay accordingly as it will and I mean will need everything
once it comes alive.
Brakes, lines, fuel tank emptied and cleaned, 4 tires, etc....
If you have been in the c2 arena c3's are nothing different.
Open check book and start writing.

Marshal
I LOVE 68-72 Corvettes.
BUT, there is absolutely NO money to be made in these cars (unlike your 63-67 cars), unless there's something special about it.
With that in mind you need to really like and want THIS car before you buy it knowing at best it's going to take money, time, and effort to get it back on the road.
From the couple of pictures it may not be 'deal killer' amounts of all 3 but at least some so you better like it.
For me it's strong point is that it's a convertible and…..?
Mike's question is always a good one…. what's it going to take to buy it?
Not nearly enough info or pics to even make a guess on it's value.
Regards,
Alan
