Default Hello

Hi new here just bought my first c3 1981 love it already needs a lot of tlc but I'm willing to make her a diamond again has a 355 motor runs excellent already stripped out the interior going to redo my question is the driver side bonding area is pulling away from the car the previous owner put a screw in it to hold it together should I remove the whole front clip to repair it or ? Advice would be appreciated

Welcome...can you post a pic of the problem area? There are MANY bonding areas on your car. Hard to tell which you are talking about.

Congrats on the new car!

From what I have read in the "Paint/Body" forum.....removing the complete front end is un-necessary....
the loose area only needs to be cleaned well and new bonding adhesive squirted onto the loose area.....
then pull the panel back into place the correct amount with something like a tie-down strap......
then let it cure for a day or two without moving the car.

The expert members can advise you better.

You will find this forum very informative. Congrats on the purchase of the '81. I own one myself. We would love to see some pictures of it.

My advice is never to remove a factory installed clip unless it's 1000% necessary, and then to think it over six or seven times before deciding to do it.

...or?...
Rebond the area with the clip in place.

The only reason I can think of to remove the front clip is to repair the birdcage...short of that , I would leave it on. I had to remove mine to fix rust on my birdcage.
