Default Paint Overspray Removal

I just bought my 77 and I was looking around underneath the car and I noticed red paint overspray on the new magna flow exhaust. Any recommendations on what to use to get it off??? Thanks in advance.

A little LIGHT compound usually does the job. Go very easy at first checking your work every few rubs.

Thanks for the reply, on the stainless muffler, and also some on bare pipes (not painted). The exhaust is relatively new and nice, so I am trying to avoid making it look worse.

It would depend on the type of paint, but I would just take a rag and some solvent - lacquer thinner, acetone.

...I would use AUTOMOTIVE GRADE lacquer thinner. I think the acetone would flash off too fast and not have time to penetrate into the paint. Soak a paper towel and lay it on the paint and let it soak in. More than likely if will come right off due to the surface that the overspray is on ...was NOT prepped for it to stick.

AND...without 'saying' ...but I have to....USE COMMON SENSE when handling and dealing with FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS.

Well, OK another question is , why is there over spray?

Of the three previous C3's I bought used all had body damage from previous accidents. Of the three, I knew two had body damage. For all three I never realized at the time of buying how extensive their body damage was. After an expensive body repair in the early 1970's and another expensive body repair about four years ago, my 68 now has a pristine body much better than a factory produced car. All the panels, hood. etc now match perfectly.

SERIOUSLY----it is quite simple. When the car was repaired and painted....whoever it was that did the work DID not take the time to correctly mask off areas.....which can EASILY be attributed to whether or not the owner was paying top dollar for the repairs or..."just get it good enough". So...it can possibly be the shop was not paid to spend the time on it....thus...overspray.
