Looks like a legitimate 'shell' on the starter. Can't say how the 'guts' are made. It could have refurbed original internals; or it could be outfitted with aftermarket guts designed to fit into a stock housing.
One would have to buy one and take it apart to know for sure.
If the casting number is what you want, and the guts are of good quality, what would hold you back from purchase? That starter casing could have de-done internally many times.

Just trying to find out if the casing looks legit? Is there anyway to tell if its a restamp? Does the front or nose look period correct? Does the solenoid look correct? The internals are what they are....thx

OK, now I understand. But I can't answer your question. Sorry!
A guy i bought some parts from just paid 700 bucks for a numbers correct starter for his 69 Z-28.
Thanks... I know its all about how important is it to you as to how much you pay.....
My car is mostly all original. Just missing a few very commonly changed out items. So I plan on acquiring these items for later purposes.... I plan on keeping as original as possible and only doing mods (Like tires and wheels, maybe side pipes) that can easily me swapped back to original when I am done playing...
looks like one went on ebay for about 100$.. some sellers are asking much more but not getting it....
Hey thanks, I do a lot of Ebay purchases and didn't know until now that you can look at recently sold items... The one for $100.00 was the wrong year for mine and the solenoid wasn't correct from what little info that I know now.. But learning daily....thanks, R

completed listings is also great market research. you can see what people actually bid up to and what people all passed on...
