Does anyone have any recommendations for the tires? Some have told me that they would worry about flat spotting if stored in the garage on concrete floor. I am only storing it for the winter, 5-6 months tops. What do you think about lifting the car off the tires or letting them rest on wood instead of the concrete floor?
Being on wood or concrete will make no difference to the tire. Taking the weight off the tires will eliminate the tendency to 'flat spot' (deform with a flat area where the tire sits; this is really no big deal, as the tire will round-out again as soon as it is run for a while). I wouldn't bother if only for a few months.
I never "put it away", I just stop driving once it gets cold.
I haven't driven it in a few weeks because I've been busy with outer things. It's still ready to go, but I just may not get around to it once it warms up again.
For God's sake, it's only 5 months. You guys act like it's 5 years.
I do nothing. Have been doing nothing for 35 years and never had a problem.
After years of doing everything I have heard to do, I'm leaning towards doing nothing too.
Also, I used Stabill for a few years and I would have the occasional startup problems, not sure if I can blame the product or that fact that I used more then I should have. I use Starbright now, but I can't say it better then doing nothing. And cheaper too.
Had a neighbor stop by the other day while I was waxing the car. We talked, his father has an '81. Anyway, he mentioned fogging the engine for winter storage. Our engine is fairly new but the builder had never mentioned anything about that. I know we have see to do that on our boat. So if I could could get some feedback if anyone does that, or even if it's even necessary. Our car is ready for bed now, so I figure it's going to sit for about 5 months at least.
