just got it yesterday 73 number match ls4 m20 posi 3.08. should be fun. car has been sitting in a AZ airplane hangar since 86. has 88K miles box A. motor is disassemble. my only worry is the cylinder walls are dust/oil/rusty build up. the walls aren't pitted/corroded. i would really hate to bore this block. how would you guy clean/check the walls?

Why are you worried about boring the engine?? If it is original bore take it to a shop and have them clean it up bore/hone it and you are good for another 100K.

Hi O,
Have you considered that there may have been a reason the engine was disassembled and then the project stopped?
Perhaps when the block goes to the machine shop they can look the rest of it over too for something that may not be too obvious.
Well Done! on finding a 73 bb 4-speed car!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

yeah im hoping it will clean up and not have to bore it. the car was taken apart to do a NCRS restoration. but this was started in 86. then it just sat in his airplane hangar. he said car was running when pulled. all the parts look good with some surface oxidation. thats what worries me on the cylinder walls. but even the original cam is ok with some were.

Hi O,
Well then the owner at the time was getting a nice head start since I believe I remember the NCRS began Flight Judging 73-74 cars in 1993!
Good Luck; and again….73 bb, very nice!
Regards,
Alan
