Default Power window switch

1969...which way does the power window switch go...long ploe to the rear or to the front? I'm wanting to pull back on the switch to raise the window.

Thanks,

Glen

Thanks,

Mine are just the opposite--forward to raise the window. Not sure if this is original or not.

mine was like that when I got it, I turned them around when I had the console out.
Made more sense to pull up the switch to make the windows go up.

Mine operate the same as yours, I am not sure if that is original or if the owner turned them around some time in the past.

it's been about 2 years since I did than. all I can remember is it was opposite to what the cable connected wanted to do.
Can you hook them up temporary and see which way?

This orientation of the power window switch is the factory way. However, some customers like to switch the motion from pulling back makes the window go down to pulling back makes the window go up.

For 1968-1976 cars you’ll need to either trim away a portion of the alignment tag or smash down the tag made into the retainer. Then invert the switches. For 1977-1982 cars one must remove either the plastic nub on the shifter console plate or the must remove a portion of the tang off the switch housing.

I can't believe GM had pulling back as down? I installed a used setup in my car and made
pulling back as going up. I didn't know any better! I still can't believe they engineered it the other way. Lou.

Just hook it up and try it out before you finish mounting it. That's the easiest way to be sure. Keep in mind, you can orient the SWITCH in a specific way....but if the power leads going to the motor have been switched (from normal assembly practice), the switch will operate in reversed fashion.

Plug it in, power it up, try it out~~ That's the only way to be certain of how it is going to function.
