How do you store your grease gun? I use mine once per year , over the winter, and keep it in a plastic bag, in the bottom of our chest freezer during the rest of the year. As you can imagine, my wife frowns on this. It seems to help the grease from separating over the summer months though. Any other good ideas anyone has for this?

never understood why mine would separate, and don't in the car
I had to attend a lubrication class for work, being in maintenance in an automotive parts plant. It surprised me very much to learn that grease is actually oil and soap! At least that is what the instructor told us. That is why it separates. Lou.
When I worked at Pep Boys tire busting, I used a pneumatic powered grease gun to fill another mechanics toolbox full of grease. I was a complete ***, but he was a Bigger one. I wanted to make sure his tools didn't rust, so I screwed grease zerks into the back of the tool chest and let it fly until it oozed out of the front drawer, then on to the next.
He still is looking to beat my face in
I keep my grease guns in a 5 gal pail in a far corner of the garage.
Yes the oil oozes out but it doesn't escape the bucket.
I've used the Mobile 1 synthetic grease (red coloring) and it too will separate
Does it separate in the gun or in the tub (can)? If it's in the can, smooth it out on top so there are no depressions in the grease where the 'oil' can accumulate.
1. Those tubes of lithium grease cost about 1 dollar at Tractor Supply store in my neck of the woods. If you're concerned about leaking or separating, give it to a needy friend and buy a new tube for it's only use the next year.
2. I have a mostly full 5 gallon pail of general purpose lithium grease bought over 30 years ago. No separation whatsoever. Go figure?
