I have a new ignition switch for my 68 coupe. I have the original key and lock cylinder to put in it. I have never seen the two together as I bought this car as an aborted project. How do I mate the cylinder to the switch? I don't want to just force it in there without knowing how to line it up etc. Thanks in advance, Jason
Original 68 ignition switches have a small light cast into the switch body. I do not think that the reproduction one's have this light. The light is to illuminate the key hole at night. Lou.
General information.
On non-locking steering columns, when the ignition switch is in the dash, to "mate" the lock tumbler and keys to the cylinder, you insert the lock tumbler into the cylinder with the key in the lock tumbler, turn the keys all the way to the left, look for the small hole in the lock cylinder, insert paper clip into hole, and push down, continue to turn key to left, and it will settle in place.
