Power steering pump groan
Installed a NAPA rebuilt power steering pump on my 77. I am getting a loud groan when turning the wheels when the car is not moving. Did the lock to lock procedure with the front wheels off the ground to get all the air out. Checked fluid, belt and hose routing. Any ideas

The type of fluid you use can cause aeration with the older American PS pumps. If you used a parts store PS fluid that is meant for more modern cars, try using the spec trans fluid. I too had this problem and it was solved by using the spec trans fluid. Also, while the shaft seal keeps fluid from leaking out, it also stops air from being sucked in. If the fluid isn't the cause, you have a bad shaft seal.
