Default Carb Dates?

I'm looking to get a period-correct carb back on my car. I'd prefer to keep the dates relatively close to the dates on my car. However, I don't know what the acceptable date range is. For example, I understand that engine build dates are generally within a month of the car build date. So, what is the correct range for the carbs relative to the engine date or car assembly date?

You better check your refreanced books. Typical engine assembly date is about a week or closer to the cars build date. NCRS allows up to six months on all dates except glass that's a year.

Hi C,
I believe you'll find that the dates on typical carburetors (those for base engines) generally can be quite close to the car's build date.
However, the dates on more unusual carburetors for less often ordered engines may proceed the cars build date by a greater span.
I believe it's generally accepted that some carbs, maybe especially Holley carbs?, were built in batches and thus dated in batches which might mean (again depending on the application) there may not ever have been a carb with a date for your car that seems "perfect" by todays thinking, instead the "perfect" carb could precede the car's assembly by a bit of time.
Also remember, the carb was installed in St.Louis so the carb's date could be after the ENGINE'S assembly date, but always before the CAR'S build date.
Regards,
Alan

I'm gonna agree with Alan here. I would tend to think that the typical 2 week to 6 month relative to ENGINE build date would be fine, anywhere in that span would work.
