I'm putting dynamat in my car frunt to back. I'm also putting a heat Barrier down over it. My car is a 69 convertible. Is using heat shielding a waste of time in the rear compartment?

Moo
I used Dynamat throughout my '64 and I do believe putting it in the rear area may only reduce road noise. I have not put anything extra in my '81 and don't plan to do so.

My 2 cents...

You aren't going to get much heat coming from the area behind the seats. Based on your post it sounds like you are doing Dynamat over the entire interior and then heat shield over that. If that is the case, I wouldn't put whatever additional heat shield over it behind the seats. I found Dynamat really helped quiet down the cabin, especially when I put a few pieces on the doors.

Thank you for your quick responses. I figured most of the heat would be from the front and the tunnel ,so I was hoping I could stop at the back of the seats.

Do it for sound isolatjon. It will really quiet down the cabin. Be sure you have the transmission heat shield installed and the foam belhousing wedge. Those two components will do more for preventing heat in the cabin than most realize, and most I've seen on C3's have been long gone and completely missing in action. Good luck!

I've already installed the dynamat in the rear and I have all the heat shielding underneath. I was more curious about extra heat barrier over the dinamat in the rear.

That is a terrific idea to put it on the door panels, the plastic is mostly missing or in poor shape and sound deadening the doors. T
