Default Windshield Wiper transmision posts

Hello,
I need what I have been told is windshield wiper transmission posts. The post that you attach you windshield wipers too. mine are worn and allow the windshield wiper to go past side of windshield. I have been told that you cannot buy them new from any of the parts suppliers. Any suggestions where I can find these?

Hi m,
Here's just a suggestion….
Before I bought a new transmission I'd check a couple of things:
First, check if your wiper arm has an adjustment screw 'A'… it controls the 'sweep' of the wiper blade. Earlier cars had it, but I'm not sure if 78s still did.
Second, check the wiper arm adjustment at the wiper motor ….. it controls how far the arms travel.
Third, check the condition of the 'key' on the transmission shaft… it 'fixes' the wiper arm on the shaft and allows the other adjustments to actually have effect.
Lastly, check the 'key-way' in the wiper arm that the 'key' fits into… it also allows the adjustments to have effect.
Perhaps your problem is caused one of these things.
Regards,
Alan

Alan, your info and pics are priceless to many, not just the OP!! I am in the middle of restoring my wipe system/door on my 71, just took a break from the garage!!

To the OP, take off the nut on the output shaft of the motor mechanism. This will free up the linkages and you can further troubleshoot as per Alan's instructions. The posts should not have play in them.

Good Luck!

Screw A went Bye Bye after mid production 1974.... and all the adjustment for the 1974 (late) and newer cars was done in the linkage as shown below.

My problem on my 82 was the ribbed piece with the key was moving on the post. The piece did not have the internal ribs to hold it in place on the post, post did not have ribs either. The ribbed piece was just pressed onto the post and it started moving enough to make the wipers hit. So I drilled an angular hole in the ribbed piece into the post (did this in three places), filled hole with JB weld and pressed in a piece of a small nail that I has cut off the head as a key of sort itself. Now ribbed piece is strongly in place on the post and the wiper in the right place. Just a bit of Bubba that will never be seen.
