When I bought my '69 it was already known that the wiper motor and washer pump were removed because they didn't work. Luckily the guy I bought it from was awesome and kept everything anyway. Unfortunately it looks like everything is going to need to be replaced.
While buying replacement parts I noted that the headlight washer solenoid appears to be capped off. Is this really worth fixing/reconnecting? I am not setting this thing up to be NCRS and frankly it kinda seems like a waste...thoughts?

Hi cpt,
I'm not sure that this has anything to do with the NCRS.
I'd think it depends on you whether you want to have the headlight washers operate or not.
They're pretty difficult to get and keep working, don't do really anything about cleaning the headlights, but, are one of the interesting parts of a 69 to SOME people.

Alan
Hi cpt,
That's what I thought but I also wanted to convey that the washers are one of the things that make a 69 special.
They CAN be difficult to get into working order to the degree that some times even a dribble from the nozzles is seen as a victory!

Alan
while you have everything apart, I would disassemble your anti drip solenoid. On the inside you will see a metal plunger with a rubber tip. The solenoid uses a magnet to pull or push (cant remember) the plunger out of the way so that water can flow to the headlights washers. Really pretty simple if the washer pump is properly working.
Clean the plunger and clean the crud off of the rubber tip.
3 years later mine still squirt

The headlight washers were only available on a few years including 1970.I broke one of the nozzles on the 5 port plastic cover on the pump. Still looking for a replacement without buying the whole wiper motor assembly.Years ago it was available as I had replaced it.would like to find a replacement to keep the original wiper motor.
Hi c,
The 5 port pump is available in reproduction without buying the "wiper motor assembly". But at a pretty steep price!
Because of the relative rarity of the 5 port people have come up with some pretty ingenious repairs for broken ports.
Did you still have the broken off piece?

Alan
Thanks Alan. You gave me an idea . Since there is about an 1/8 inch left on the pump maybe I can drill out and add a small piece of copper to install the rubber hose to. If not ,do you have a name for where I might get a replacement 5 port? I see 3 ports on many sites. Thanks, Rob
Hi c,
The repair you're suggesting is similar to what other people are doing.
I certainly think it's with the try.
The 5 port pump is available from the larger vendors but is really QUITE $$$! It's one of those parts that relatively few restorers need, but those that do, REALLY need them.

I noticed the my donor car has the headlight washers that I would eventually like to get working. Is the wiper motor different or the same as my project car with some added features that bolt or screw on. I guess I should esu the donor wiper motor if it works. Did I just answer my own question!
Thank You in advance
