Is This C3 Corvette Barn Find Worth $28k?
It might not exactly be in mint condition, but with 52,435 miles on the odometer, it’s a lot better off than plenty of other classic Corvette "barn finds".

I would say it is worth every penny......
Probably take 20k to restore and be worth over 70k.....
If I had the money I would take the plunge....

I'd say its worth it. I'm no expert but yes I'd expect to pay this kind of cha-ching for a legit 427 car in this condition even with a NOM.

Plus the wrong rocker panels and painted wheels show the car was not kept stock regardless of the mileage or how long it's been in a barn.
IMO it sold for too much and the ceiling numbers being discussed here are way off base.

Hi,
What in the world does this mean?
"Bonati has even signed a notarized affidavit stating he owned the Corvette from 1975-2015, which certainly should ease the new owner’s worries about the condition of the C3".
He could have loaned it to a band of gypsies who drove it the whole time!
Regards,
Alan

I think that's code for, "I have no real documentation."

I can't agree. It's an NOM no matter which way you look at it. Who cares what it used to be? I suppose you could drop in a restamp, but with the history of the car all over the Internet, any future buyer would know it's a fake.

The rocker panels are an easy bolt off and on. Repainting the wheels would be a given with the condition of the car.
I don't know about $28K for that car. Maybe, but it's certainly not a buy now bargain. Not long ago there was a cherry rebuilt by the numbers correct 69 350/350 with two tops, cortez silver for $19500. Dude had trouble selling it. I know this is a big block, but was it a 390 HP originally? I don't like the non-original engine. If it was a by the numbers car, probably worth it.

Yup. When I hear estimates of 800 - 900 hours labor, figure at least $75 per hour... That doesn't include cost of parts.

"new big block V8 L71"
This doesn't look new to me! But why is everybody assuming this is NOM? Just because no documentation?

"The gold vintage ‘Vette, sold by Carolina Muscle Cars, is equipped with a new big block V8 L71 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission."
If the L71 wasn't a new offering which appeared in 69, most of us are interpreting this to mean the original engine was replaced with a new one, making it a NOM. It was probably replaced many years ago based on corrosion we see.
I think it`s because the ad says "new" engine, and also because everybody always wants to say "numbers matching" I would think that would add more value than somebody`s notarized affidavit. If it was numbers matching.... wouldn`t they say it in bold capital letters 3 or 4 times?

For me, yes, but then again I'm partial to the color
What happened to the paint and engine compartment? That's a lot of rusty stuff, yet the frame looks solid...
