THANK YOU for posting this. THIS is a PERFECT example of 'jacked-up' wiring. ( in my opinion)
YES...I do use solderless butt connectors...BUT not the type that are insulated. I protect the non-insulated type with several layers of heat shrink or some special heat shrink that really protects the butt connector and reinforces the wires coming out of it.
The reason I use NON insulated butt connectors is ...1.) I do not like the colors showing...looks cheap to me. 2.) I want to make sure I have a good crimp using the CORRECT type of crimpers....and the solderless butt connectors have a opening in the middle of it where I can add some solder to join both wires where they are coming together.
When it comes to any electrical issue....I ASSUME NOTHING being correct....especially if it was put together by an unknown company. I always verify that it was assembled as if I assembled it.
