Default Pricing Help and Advice Needed.........

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, bear with me for a minute,

I have owned a '73 L82 4 speed for about 30 years. It has been covered and sitting on jack stands in a garage for around 27 years or so!

Car is an 350/4 spd A/C car, PS, PB, luggage rack, T-top (2 sets of tops. 1 painted, 1 with a raincoat). Equipped with the old school Hurricane wheels and if memory serves, Goodyear tires. I do not know if the engine is original, but it certainly is early '70's if not.

What happened was that I got the car, drove it for a while, put it in the garage to start a rebuild. Pulled the wheels, started stripping the body, pulled seats out, pulled trans and had it overhauled, etc.

What then happened was life. Life passed by, car was not worked on, and now I simply don't have the time nor inclination to fix it, so it must be sold.

The Bad....... Exterior needs to be stripped and painted. The body did not have bonding strip cracks.

Engine ran when put up, but I believe I pulled the manifold, don't remember if it was put back on and there is an Edelbrock box on the car, so who knows.

Car needs a floor pan as the foot well on the drivers side is a Flinstone car.

The Good.......... Car has been sitting on stands and out of the weather for almost 30 years. There is no frame rust. I believe the rotors have never even been off as the rivets are still present. Car itself is in nice shape and is not a wreck.

The Odd........... At some point early in its life, a custom interior was done. Dash, console, and seats were upholstered in a pearlish off white color. Actually a nice job, but certainly not stock.

Also at some early point, from what I can tell is that someone changed the endura front nose and likely the fenders and replaced them with a solid nose. Don't know if it was a one piece deal or not. Frame VIN matches tag.

So basically, take the car, blast the body, do any required work, paint it. Put the interior back together, put the trans and clutch back in, get running, etc., and you have yourself a very nice driver.

Is it stock and/or a survivor? Hell no, but the bones are there and it was a nice car when parked almost 30 years ago.

Market on the '68-'73 cars is starting to come up and it's time to let this go.

What say you as far as current value? I'm certainly not thinking it's a high dollar car, but what would a realistic price be for a "barn find" car that has good bones?

Note: I do not currently have pics, it may be a few weeks before I can get some as the car is in a different state and I only had a brief reunion with it this past week.

What did you pay for it back in the day? It's probably still worth that figure. No disrespect, but if you are intending to keep the car, why should any arbitrary barn find figure matter? Why not wait until you have it back on the road and then consider a value?

My bad. I missed the selling part. I have no idea what the car might be worth in its present condition.

I'm more than likely way off with my number but a 73 needs paint, interior, needs floor, not running and has the wrong front end on it. $2500 ish?

I'd say it may be worth more parted out....? If you go that route I may be interested in the transmission.

OP, your story is all too common. there are abandoned projects being sold all the time, have even sold a few of my own...so don't be surprised at the low ball prices. nice chrome bumper cars are getting more valuable. 30 year old abandoned projects are not. My tops would be $1,500, and that's being generous.

and pictures would certainly help.

I don't think that any of the guesses are too far off the mark, especially without pics and an idea of what's there and what's missing. I think I'd ask $3k and essentially take any offer over $1k. A quick search on eBay yielded a number of cars which the following was the closest:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Co...m=191761817128

Note that they haven't received a single offer.

Oh wise Wes.

A 75 convertible is probably worth a little more than equivalent 73 coupe. $7 k for a car in this condition is ridiculous.

Al rubber bumper verses chrome rear bumper ,might want to do
some research for years anything that had a chrome bumper brings more than a double rubber bumper .I have had them both and always got more for a chrome bumper car the my rubber bumper corvette .
Just my 2c opinion

I was also thinking about $5K.

it would take very little to get it running and driving. That's half the battle right there.

I would imagine a rolling chassis of this era (pre metal floor) would go for at least $2500. Add the motor and trans, interior, etc., and it has to be worth the $5K, no?

As far as 75 vert that was linked vs 73 T top, I think its a wash, personally.

Really, I am just looking to move it, as I am not bringing it back from up North. Just not enough time to restore it.

6 to 10K paint, 2K interior, 2 to 3K floor and systems check, 1K tires, 2K brakes, 3K engine and transmission and your 5K shell plus 2K delivery.
I would look a completed car at 15 to 20K on our for sale section, which includes pictures.
The 73 has the best look for a C3, if I was in my fifties your car would be my money pit!

Thanks, but I would have to disagree with your numbers though.

If you can't find a quality shop to finish the body and paint for $5K, you're doing something wrong.

Interior needs carpet and to be put back together..... $750 tops

$2-3K to fix a hole in the floor? I'm thinking $1K completed

$1K tires, I agree

Brakes are complete and original. Pull rotors, rebuild calipers, etc. $1K tops

Engine and trans, I think you are a little heavy, as trans was already done and motor runs, although I would tear it down real quick......$2K

Shell at $5K

Delivery $1500 max

Soooooooooooooooo.................$17250 for a really nice car is right in the ballpark of where it should be, and even then, on the far low side of the C3 market.

I partially agree . Abandoned projects lose value the more they are taken apart unless they are a special example like a split window or 57 fuelie but your run of the mill corvette is worth more still assembled even if in rough condition. Too many people enjoy taking things apart and don't realize how much work and money is involved until they see it in pieces and that's how potential buyers see it when you have already taken it apart. $1,500. is probably too low because it is worth more in parts , but a realistic price is probably between $2,000. and $2,500.
