Default Cleaning Evaporator

On my 77, I have the evaporator housing removed and am replacing the blower motor and seals. I plan to flush the evaporator while it is out. I will not be finishing the system right away. Will the plastic plugs that come on a lot of new parts be good enough for keeping out contaminants while I work on other areas of the car? Also, after flushing, should I add anything to the evaporator before capping it off?

Any plugs that seal out air will be ok. If you have some AC compressor oil, you could add some. But not necessary, if its cleaned and dried out.

Honestly....I take my evaporators when they are out and have them checked to make sure they are not leaking. Reason being...I DO NOT want to have to do this twice. AND if the evaporator seems like it is in need of being replaced...any part of it that seems to have been oily and dust/dirt clinging to it....I let the customer decide and if it fails in the future....then I do not feel so bad that they have to pay me twice.
