Has anyone lifted the body off the frame from underneath and then supported the body with 4"X4" spacer off the frame? I dont really have the room to seperate the two and have them side by side and thought this would be an easier solution. But is it doable?

That's more or less how I did mine, lifted the body with a floor jack, 4 x 4's across the bottom, fastened with threaded rods thru the #2 and #3 mount holes. I suspended my body from the rafters over the frame with enough height to comfortably work on the underside.
All I know is that there would be no way in hell I would do it with the safety stands you have under it currently. Where they are positioned is giving me the '*******'. I would have to re-position them.
Hopefully you do not have the engine/transmission still in the car in the photo you posted. That added weight draws some concern.
Crying shame you do not have the space...basque I have dropped the frame out from under a Corvette much like this and did all my frame work and slid it back under and bolted it up and did not need to actually lift it off. But I also have some seriously tall safety jack stands that worked perfectly to hold the body up while doing so.
Just be careful if you do this so the frame does not slide off your safety stands.
Dub, Where would you add more jackstands? I have always used 4 on any vehicle I have done in the past and it worked fine. The engine and trans are out currently and I just removed all the front suspension over the Christmas Holiday. Now I just want to get the body raised off the frame enough to thoroughly clean and paint the frame before i start installing all new suspension peices. Thanks for the advise.
4 jack stands is fine...it is where they are placed is what scares me in couple of ways.
Personally ...If I use jack stands...I try to get them as far apart as possible. Due to me having BIG jack stands that have a lot of height to them....I would put one in the hole where your coil spring went..and the rear ones would go more than likely on the differential cross member...OR on the frame right behind your rubber snubber for your trailing arm that is on the frame.
I am GLAD that you have the engine and transmission out...because if you look at your photo...where the jack stand are placed is allowing a lot of the frame NOT to be supported and IF there is the added weight PAST the jack stands....it can effect the frame...ESPECIALLY IF the car is going to sit in this position for a long period of time.
And ...where you have your jack stands now...I know I would not get near it if I were lifting up the body so I can do what you want.... (I would be scared that the frame would slip off the jack stands)....which is why I prefer to put the jack stand closer to where the wheels are located to mimic it.
FWIW: Here are a few photos of how I handled suspending the body over the frame, hung from the rafters. Allowed work underneath as well as storage of the chassis below. The body was lifted off the frame using a floor jack and blocks. I added blocks between the frame and rocker channel to raise the body in increments until I had enough space to fit the 4 x 4's. Once I reached the height I wanted I hung the 4 x 4's from the rafters with chains. If I didn't have rafters available, I could have built some simple platforms for each end of the 4 x 4's to support. A number of ways this could be done.
