Default help with center caps

Have a 71 convertible. 2nd owner. Owned since 73. Has 5 spoke trust type mags with GM center caps. Japan on inside of wheel. Discovered the GM tag is apparently a metallic sticker covering up A/P embossed letters. Did GM re-brand this wheel our did previous owner? Is it really an Appliance brand wheel? Where would one find the center caps? Need to replace and American Racing wheel center caps don't fit.

You say "trust type" mags. I am not familiar with that term. Do you mean "torque-thrust" type? Pictures would certainly help here.

A pic would help. You have aftermarket wheels, so a GM item would have been added by a previous owner.

It sounds like you have a set of the old Appliance Plating wheels. I believe that Appliance Plating later became Appliance Industries. Their early wheels were identified by the "A/P" logo on the center caps, while later Appliance Industries center caps just have an "A".

The Appliance Torque-Thrust style wheel, was a very nicely made wheel. A friend of mine had them on a 67 GTO, when I was in high school, and I think they were at least as nice as the real American Racing Torque-Thrusts.

Almost all of the mag wheel companies used different diameter center caps, including Appliance. Appliance disappeared in the 80's, and I don't know of any source for new center caps, that will fit their wheels.
