My rocker panels on my 69 are black. I've seen both black and silver. Which is correct? Or was it an option to have either? I'm thinking I'd like silver since I don't have side pipes. Would that be a no-no?
Rockers for the 69 [also 6t8] are 2 piece units. The fiberglass piece is black and the upper aluminum is two toned - black and polished. Never seen the glass piece in silver. The silver you might have seen would have been from a 70 or newer. They are 1 piece units and a lot less expensive to replace. T
As mentioned above the rockers were black with a thin silver metal top strip. That keeps with the originality if that's what you are doing. It's your car to make that choice.

That's up to you, it's your car. If you have a pair of the original fiberglass two piece rocker panels, my advice is to hold on to them. They are 68-69 only, difficult to find, and expensive to replace.
There were no "optional" rocker panels for any model year in the sense that you could get something different from the factory.
Very nice to have:
Pricey and getting hard to find, but very nice:

If you have a pair of old silver 70-up rockers, you can also paint them satin black to look like the 68-69 ones. I had to, because the original 68-69 rocker panel fasteners rusted off of my car years ago. Lou.
After having my 68 coupe for over 43 years, I just wanted to say that GM has always charged an outrageous price for the two piece 68,69 rocker panels.
How can a small strip of aluminum and a hunk of fiberglass ALWAYS, over the years, cost at least twice as much as the one piece aluminum ones? Lou.
I was just curious. If 69 were black then they will remain black. In my shopping I just remember some cars having silver and I didn't realize that it was changed in the 70-72 models to silver. i'm sure that is where I saw it. All good.
