I have a 81 and it has 275 60 15's on the rear they look good but don't stick out pass the wheel well as i would like my rims are cragers 10inch in the rear with a 3.75 backspace someone told me to put 315 60 15's on the rear how much wider is this tire and will i get the look i am looking for thanks
315-275=40mm
40mm/25.4mm per inch = 1.6 inch wider cross section
so the tire, assuming it doesnt rub anything on the inside, will stick .8" further out.
you are sure your wheel well when the suspension is compressed will not hit the tire and you have that same amount of clearance on the trailing arm?

so basically it would not be worth spending the money for .8 of a inch the 275 60 15's look good and I have no problem with clearance or my eb thanks
FWIW: depending on where you live, tires outside the fender can result in a traffic citation. Check with your local law enforcement folks on a friendly basis since you don't want to meet them professionally.
