When i finished installing the dash pad, The Dash lights were almost pink due to the lip being painted red as in picture. I took some white paint and covered all the red around the lip and the difference is phenomenal !! Cool White!!!
Love the brighter look. I can barely see the gauges in my 75 at night and im only 27 lol. The 68 will for sure be getting leds, but I might just have to do the 75 as well.

I hear you!! my 74 was also very dark. Glad I made this small upgrade!!
I tried the bulbs- white and red- just didn't have the light I wanted- as I'm running the stock green letter gauges.
I ended up using LED strip lighting and made a length long enough to wrap around twice. Looks better- but I'm going to get a hold of some cool white strips and see if it looks any better. I could also add some LED bulbs in the stock location and see if that makes a difference.
Albeit my gauges are totally custom- you can still do this to stock gauges-

That looks pretty good actually. I was thinking about trying the multi color LED strip lights with a wireless controller. That way I could change color to whatever I felt like, and maybe even dim them.

Looks good!
Is that the led strip on the left and regular bulbs on the right?

Red Cruz,
Your gauges look fantastic, are the LEDs just plug and play, and is that just a white sticker on original gauges?
I changed almost every bulb in the interior with LED's, just the bulbs were changed, nothing else. A vast improvement over stock, but not too bright as to be distracting. here are a couple of pics.

Note the difference in the amp draw . . . .
looks great just finished putting the white overlays on my tach and speed-o. Went with some custom AutoMeter gauges for the center console.
Maybe I missed it but what color bulbs did you use ? White, Cool White, or Warm White. If you don't mind, I'd like to match yours..

Thank You
Every bulb that I used was a cool white, at night time, in the dark, it looks even brighter.
However, It's not just a matter of taking out the incandescent bulb and replacing it with an LED.
You need to pick different LED's for different locations There is a lot to consider, such as, total lumens, number of LED's that the bulb actually has, is it a side firing, or forward firing, just to name a few.
The kit's may be a better way to go, but I chose to experiment with different LED's for the various locations and not just the speedo/tach.
