im redoing some things on a 72 coupe. it had new weather seals around the doors but they were not very flexible and it took a bit of an effort to shut the doors. you didn't have to slam them or anything like that. it seems the leading edge of the door is pretty tight against the pillar on the drivers side and I think the door needs to be adjusted back a bit as there is about a half to 5/8s gap at the back of the door. the passenger door is a whole different ball game. the top front needs to come out and go forward. I have a big gap at the top front and a small gap at the bottom. I searched this on the web last night and it seems to be a common problem. this is an original car that's never been hit. so my big question since im spending his money ,whats the best door seal to use. I was thinking softseal. thanks for any info

Hi Peter,
Many people consider the weatherstrip made by Corvette Rubber Company (CRC) to be a good choice.
Some folks believe it's a good idea to set the door gaps with no weatherstrip on the door. THEN install the weatherstrip.
The doors may be difficult to close for a few weeks but will conform to the position they need to be fairly quickly and the doors will close with normal pressure.
Regards,
Alan
On cars that have the 'gutter extension' on the a-pillar strip the contact with the top of the door weatherstrip at that point can be VERY tight.
Do you carry a complete kit that has all the weather stripping for a 73 coupe? I'm getting close on my frame off to needing it. Hope to put the body back on in the next few months.

Absolutely... it's on sale too.. See our current sale thread in this section. There is a typo on the sale flier (weatherstrip isn't listed) I'll have to fix tomorrow but the codes will work for the kit. https://willcoxcorvette.com/january-weekend-sale
Corvette Rubber Company...Started by Jay Price, was one of the first after market companies to start selling us Corvette products. They have the best Corvette weatherstrip.
I have had my 68 coupe for 43 1/2 years and have been a Vette Vues magazine subscriber since 1975. Mr. Price's ad's were one of the first products offered in there.
Years ago, I had to buy GM over the counter weatherstrip for 69-up Corvettes, for my 68, because no one had true 68 weatherstrip available then.
It took fully ten years for that darn weatherstrip to allow me to close my doors without having to slam the doors shut really hard. Lou.
do you have a tutorial on adjusting the doors? my passenger door is in at the top front. I bought some shims to start with. its very close at the back of the door and it needs to go forward and out at the top. if I put shims on the top hinge will that make the bottom go in or will it stay the same. I talked to another member and said you weather seals are the best. yo will definatly be hearing from thanks for any info peter
