If you want to go retro, I think it would be cooler to have a tape deck. Tapes and CDs are equally obsolete, but you would get that cool retro vibe with tapes.

I have since completely changed my entire stereo system, and I knowingly gave up audio quality for quantity and convenience, and I now use mp3s instead. That being said, if my new headunit had the capability to control a cd changer, I would still have one in the car.
