Default component question

1969 corvette L46 with AC

I need to mount this component and I'm not sure where it goes.

Can someone show me a photo of it mounted properly.

Also .. what is its function? I assume it is a capacitor ... I have a radio and an anti-theft system in my car.

Thanks for your help.

ballen06- it looks like a capacitor that has been "bubba wired" in place, probably to help eliminate radio noise. Since the wiring has already been done, it really does not matter where you put it. It looks like there is a band/clamp around the middle that probably has a hole in it- find somewhere metal under the dash and use a trim screw to fasten/ground it. From the location- don't yellow/white wires go to the convenience light in the left foot well? Or are those extra wires installed by the PO? I just got done replacing the dash wiring harness to avoid this type of issue. This gives me flash-backs. RA

I beg your pardon... (Just kidding).

It's not a Bubba job. Came with the car when I bought it new. I'm just not smart enough to take good photos.

I'll take your suggestion. Now to find a good nest for it.

ballen06- Came with the car when I bought it new. Your car is a 1969. The tap-in connectors you show there were not used by the GM assembly plant in 69. If you have had the car since new, perhaps your dealer installed it??? It has all of the appearance of dozens of splices all over my car by the PO. RA

As was stated above it is for radio interference. Trace the wires if you want to know more.

Hi b,
I believe it's one of the capacitors that were added when the radio option was selected.
I believe this one is to 'silence' the brake light switch.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. Do you know if the dealer installed this capacitor or was it a factory after thought?

I think they started in 69 and were added if the radio option was checked like Alan said.

The handful I've seen were all taped to the orange and white wires sort of like shown.
