I just got a new pair of headlight actuators and was thinking of using a matte clear on them to prevent them from rusting. Has anyone done this and does the clear adhere to the bare metal? The old right one has a bunch of pin holes from rusting out. It was driving nuts i thought it was a bad hose and couldn't the leak.
Hi b,
The actuator bodies are plated and then dichromate dipped (the goldish hues) so they aren't "bare metal"…. but they are metal.
Eastwood makes a clear specifically for metal parts that aren't painted…. you might want to check that out.
